Today I learned that in Japan the natives often classify the foreigners livnig there as "gaijin" meaning outsiders in Japanese. Japanese are commonly very firendly towards their foreigners but yet people from other countries still feel very bothered because of that word despite living there for many years. Also a very interesting thing is that mostly all foreigners there like to have their own groups with other foreigners rather than the Japanese because they feel more at "home" wtih them.
Today I learned that whenever you go live in a foreign you have to keep in mind that many of the things you are adapted to in your native country might not be the same in another country. For example in Japan, Christmas isn't as religious as in the U.S and is more of way to celebrate the birthdate of the present emperor. The Japanese celebrate this by mkaing 'Christmas Cake' and having 'Christmas chicken' on December 23d. Basically it's more of a way to show affection to loved ones in your life instead of being the all religious and jolly holiday we know and love today in the U.S

This is how a Christmas Cake would look like in Japan , very simple yet very tasteful looking.

Genius Hour

My topic for Genius Hour is 'What is it like living in foreign countries'. I want to learn what you have to learn and take to live in another country. Perhaps i can even learn how to learn another language besides English or Spanish. I also want to know all the customs of a country for example, Tokyo, Japan and all the things that they are custom to like food, weather, shopping, etc.
